Anita Sanci, RYT500, is a certified professional level Kripalu Yoga and Kripalu Danskinetics Teacher. She is a former professional dancer, gymnist and choreographer with a lifetime of teaching and performing experience. Anita has studied extensively in New York City with world-class master teachers, and managed her own dance academy. Her specialties include children’s gymnastics & yoga, and partner work which includes partner yoga, acrobatic adagio and pas de deux. Her strong dance background is reflected in her yoga classes. Anita is a member of the Kripalu Yoga Teacher Training staff at Discovery Yoga, and facilitator of the Discovery Yoga Teachers’ Alliance.

A lot of people think that becoming a yoga instructor consists of learning to teach a basic form of fitness. Really, it is one of the most intense commitments one can make. To be a good yoga teacher, you need to understand anatomy as well as an orthopedic surgeon, be able to grasp philosophy like a university professor and become aware of the human soul like a priest. Furthermore being a good yoga teacher requires us to practice what we preach and gain the skills to handle hardships in life so we can maintain a high level of
personal energy and integrity that allows us to give immensely to
others.
If these skills are things you desire, then this unique, comprehensive and powerful course will fill you with confidence to teach what you love. We will cover yoga philosophy, sequencing, conscious alignment, yoga as therapy and lifestyle, tools that will be invaluable in making you a great teacher and a positive force in the world.
Because my major life mission is about bringing the energy from
my deep connection to Nature into the world, I want to offer the
second half of this course in a retreat setting. A place where we
can leave our daily concerns behind, immerse ourselves in the
wonder of being alive and surround ourselves with a community
of other people on a similar bliss path. A place where we can fully
absorb the immensity of the life-transforming commitment of

About the Program:
Jivamukti Yoga® is one of nine internationally recognized styles of Hatha yoga. This course will give you an opportunity to acquire the skills and confidence necessary to teach a Jivamukti Yoga class, which incorporates chanting, asanas, music, meditation and scriptural study into a challenging vinyasa practice.
The program is a one month residential program at the Omega Institute, located in Rhinebeck, NY. (See below, “About Omega/Lodging & Meals” for more information on Omega.) The program covers yoga philosophy and scripture, history of yoga, introduction to Sanskrit, introduction to anatomy, practice teaching sessions, study groups, mentor guidance, quizzes, midterm and final tests, and all aspects of Jivamukti Yoga. A special segment of this month-long teacher training will include full participation in a “Weekend of Ecstatic Chant,” held from May 8-11. We join some of the Western world’s leading devotional singers, (TBA) and special guests in an exploration of transcendent musical prayer (kirtan), yoga and meditation. The weekend includes an extraordinary all-night Saturday session. Attendance will be counted among the hours towards Jivamukti certification.
