When people say …
When people say it’s hard, they mean that you have to try hard. Everyone in these classes remembers what it was like to be a beginner, and will do their best to help you.

I went 3-4 times a week. The weight came off gradually. I eased into Bikram, every time you take a class something else clicks into place and you better understand a posture. Its like chess for your body.

How many times a week / month did you do it in order to lose 20lbs?

Marklance - not at …
Marklance - not at all. There are all body types at the yoga studio I attend. The instructors are also very supportive and encouraging. The only thing that could possibly be construed as “elitist” is the cost, which is, I admit, a little bit high.
Try it and enjoy.

I started …
I started practicing Bikram 2 years ago, I stopped during my pregnancy (felt dizzy) and started again 6weeks PP. I’ve dropped 20lbs in 6mos and I feel great, healthy. Bikram does wonders for your back. Don’t be concerned about your level of fitness, it is for all levels and rehabilitation. Your practice is about what you can do that day, not about any one else. I see all different types of people in yoga class. If you get the chance try it.

No, I wasn’t …
No, I wasn’t talking about your comment, I was talking about the girl in the video. I don’t do bikram yoga, I do various hatha styles. And I am one of the bigger girls for my age group in the classes.

Wow you’re so …
Wow you’re so enlightened, insult me then disguise it with a blessing. With you’re gracious judgment, you’ve just cemented my elitist criticisms. I hope you do not represent all you’re peers, as I had hoped I was wrong. Bless you in you’re quest for empathy and kindness.

Don’t judge it from …
Don’t judge it from just this video, they are at a higher level anyway.. Try it, it’ll make you feel amazing. Don’t worry about your size- you’ll be the only one judging yourself in the class. I’ll quote one of my teachers “Look in the mirror and love yourself. You wouldn’t tell your best girlfriend that she looked fat in those shorts, why would you tell yourself that?”
May 6th, 2009 at 9:06 am
I would like to try …
I would like to try this, but it seems like all the girls are already really thin. No room for bigger girls in this class. Sucks, and is a little elitist.

Yoga is not exercise and was never meant to be. So lets all agree that `bikram yoga is a fantastic form of exercise and not Yoga.

Empirical evidence, medical studies or what-not…..I am a Bikram Yoga student and I have done SEVERAL different kinds of exercise-running, aerobics, other kinds of yoga, hiking, running to name a few.

The post is really informative. There is one type of yoga known as Bikram yoga. It is regarded as most intensive. This kind of yoga yoga involves 26 different postures and 2 peathing exercises in 90 minutes. The exceptionality of Bikram yoga is that it is practiced in extreme heat.
